When the sun is beating down, there are few things better than a dip in crystal-clear mountain water. Vemdalen has plenty of natural swimming spots—from mirror-smooth ponds to roaring waterfalls. Pack your beach bag, lace up your water shoes, and discover five of the destination’s best natural swimming spots!

1. Varggranstjärnen – a high-altitude dip with sweeping views

At an elevation of 905 meters lies Varggranstjärnen, a refreshing gem on Vemdalsskalet. You can get here by car or via a short but steep walk from Karl XI’s Road. The reward—a refreshing dip with mountain peaks in every direction! After your swim, you can recharge with coffee and snacks at Varggransstugan, which is open this summer.

2. Klövsjön – shallow and kid-friendly

In “Sweden’s most beautiful village,” Klövsjö, the tranquil mountain lake stretches out before you. Next to the marina, you’ll find a cozy swimming spot with a sandy beach and shallow water—perfect for families with children. Take a break on the pier, dip your toes in the water, and enjoy the silhouette of the surrounding mountains. Turn onto Byvägen from the main road; after 1 km, turn left onto Morvägen and then left onto Hampkärnsvägen.

3. Storhogna – a small, charming, and child-friendly spot near the mountain hotel

Right outside Storhogna Högfjällshotell & Spa is a small pond with a swimming dock. Here, you can start your adventure with a refreshing dip and then explore the Plupps hiking trail, play at the playground, or try out the outdoor gym.

4. Fettjeå Falls – swim beneath a 60-meter-high waterfall

This is the ultimate swimming experience for the adventurous! At the foot of the impressive Fettjeåfallet waterfall lies a natural lagoon where you can swim in crisp mountain water while gazing up at the roaring waterfall. A magical place to experience the wildness of the mountains up close.

5. Håsjön – a sandy beach and piers at Veman

In Vemhån, you’ll find a small, charming swimming spot by Veman on Lake Håsjön. There’s a sandy beach and piers that make it easy to get in and out of the water. Drive straight through the village and continue down to the lake—perfect for a peaceful day of picnicking and swimming.
