Choose between shorter rides or set out on a multi-day adventure with overnight stays, where your days will be filled with sweeping views and the tranquility of unspoiled nature. The journey takes you through wilderness, past charming mountain pastures, and up over the mountains where the view stretches out at an altitude of over a thousand meters. We offer a slightly shorter guided tour through coniferous forests near the mountains, alongside streams and marshes. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, you’ll ride on horseback to explore pristine forest areas. This is the perfect tour for those who want to try Western-style riding or take family and friends on a wonderful nature experience. Everyone is welcome. We’ll ride on safe trail horses, and the tour will proceed at a leisurely pace so that everyone feels comfortable in the saddle.

Special tour with horseback riding for experienced riders

Speed and excitement for the truly experienced—this is the obvious choice for those who are skilled riders and have mastered all the horse’s gaits. We’ll ride along scenic gravel roads so we can enjoy some longer gallops together.

Duration: 4.5 hours
Minimum age: 14 years; minimum height: 155 cm.

Horseback ride with a snack break

Now it’s time for those of you who want to venture deeper into the forest and enjoy that pot of coffee and homemade buns everyone’s talking about. After a brief briefing, we’ll head out into the coniferous forest near the mountains and ride along scenic trails past old mountain pastures and beautiful streams. You can be a beginner on this ride, but you need to be fearless.

Duration: 2.5 hours
Minimum age: 10 years. Minimum height: 140 cm.

4.5-hour tour with lunch

We ride through the forests between our two ranches, across streams, and through old cattle corrals that remind us of our ancestors’ history. The guided tour takes us through a variety of natural landscapes, and there’s plenty of time to stop and take beautiful photos. We catch glimpses of our beautiful mountains in the distance. Halfway through the ride, once we’ve reached our summer ranch, we tie up the horses and cook lunch together over an open fire. After lunch and coffee, we take a different route back to Trumvallen. If we’re lucky, we might spot our cows along the way, which graze freely here during the summer. This is the tour for you if you want to experience a mountain-like setting and try Western riding without spending too many hours in the saddle. We ride at a walk for the entire tour, with the option to trot or even gallop if the terrain allows and we see that you’re an experienced rider with control over your horse.

Duration: 4.5 hours
Minimum age: 14 years; minimum height: 155 cm.

Day trips

The Summit Hike

This is the experience that takes you up to the beautiful views and colors of the bare mountain. On clear days, we can see as far as neighboring Norway. We ride through roadless terrain, passing through various types of landscapes such as coniferous forests near the mountains, unique mountain birch forests, marshes, and bare mountain peaks. We’ll cook lunch over an open fire once we’ve reached our destination, the bare mountain. On the return trip, we’ll take new paths that lead us back to the ranch. Due to the terrain, this tour is mostly at a walk. If you’re an experienced rider, we’ll adapt the tour to your skill level as much as possible. As a guest, you’ll ride more independently here, as we always spread out when we reach the open mountain plains. This allows you to experience the relaxed riding style of Western riding. This tour is not suitable for inexperienced or uncertain riders; if you feel that applies to you, we recommend our 1.5-hour mixed tour instead.

Duration: 6 hours
Minimum age: 14 years; minimum height: 155 cm.

Overnight tours

Rookie Day

Rookieday, a day you’ll never forget! This is the tour for beginners or those who are a bit rusty in the saddle. After a brief introduction, we’ll set off toward our beautiful mountain peaks. We’ll ride through roadless terrain across a variety of landscapes, ranging from coniferous forests to bare mountain slopes. Once we reach our destination—the bare mountain—we’ll cook lunch over an open fire. You’ll ride for about 6 hours with a few breaks. After lunch, we’ll continue across the mountain and end the day at the ranch. In the evening, we’ll gather around the campfire, enjoy a delicious dinner, and after the meal, you’ll have the chance to relax in a wood-fired sauna and hot tub. You’ll stay in a simple cabin at our ranch, and after a good night’s sleep, you’ll head home after breakfast.

Duration: 1 day with an overnight stay.

Mountain Bonanza

Now it’s time to immerse yourself in the rugged mountain landscape and take your riding to the next level. In this two-day package, you’ll be guided across several mountain peaks. We’ll start the tour at 9 a.m. when we’ll gather and saddle the horses together. After a brief introduction in the paddock, we’ll head out into the mountains, and we promise you’ll be fascinated by the horses’ ability to navigate anywhere. These will be mountain experiences you won’t soon forget. In the evening, we’ll gather around the campfire, enjoy a delicious dinner, and after the meal, you’ll have the chance to relax in a wood-fired sauna and hot tub. Day two starts the same way as the first day; we ride to new places. Now that you’re a pro, we can take you to more challenging terrain—maybe you’ll get to experience that mountain gallop you’ve been dreaming of. The tour ends around 4:00 PM on day two.

Duration: 2 days and one overnight stay

The Cowboy Experience

“Feel the rope in your hands and the dust in the air as you enjoy an authentic working vacation experience at Trumvallen Horseranch.” Here, you get the best of everything! You’ll spend hours in the saddle, bond with the horses, and—best of all—work with cows. During your 3 days with us, you’ll develop your ability to communicate with horses.

To start, you’ll get a popular in-depth training day focused on clear leadership and horse handling—the cowboy way. We’ll do this at the ranch and out on the trail. In addition, there will be a day in the mountains and a day working with the cows. If the weather is good, we plan to spend the night at our mountain camp, at the tree line. During this 24-hour period, you’ll take on extra responsibility for the horses, cooking, and the tasks involved in spending the night outdoors with horses. The mountain camp has several simple log cabins; we sleep under a roof, but it can get cold at night. This is the adventure for a rider who has mastered the horse in all gaits and can easily mount from the ground.

Duration: 3 days/2 nights.

Ranch Week

Our most popular tour by far: five days combining incredible mountain experiences with a horsemanship course and work with cows. Here, you can truly make the most of your ranch experience with horses and cows. You won’t be a guest standing on the sidelines watching others work—you’ll become part of our team of cowboys, cowgirls, and ranch hands. Your five days with us will give you the satisfaction of genuine hard work and many hours in the saddle, combined with incredibly beautiful mountain views. We ride through completely untouched terrain, crossing stream ravines, over bare mountain peaks, and through forests. We enjoy dinner together around the campfire. When you’re with us, you’ll experience everything that comes with a working cattle ranch and have the opportunity to develop your riding skills, leadership, and cow sense. You need to be in good physical shape, able to handle long, tough days in the saddle, and have complete mastery of the horse’s three gaits.

Every day spent with the horses is guided by “The Cowboy Way”—with a focus on leadership and communication. If the weather is good, we plan to spend the night at our mountain camp, at the tree line. Over the course of one or two days, you’ll take on extra responsibility for the horses, cooking, and the tasks involved in spending the night outdoors with horses. The mountain camp features several simple log cabins. This will be an experience you’ll cherish for a lifetime. “You arrive as a guest but leave as a member of the Trumma family.”

Duration: 5 days/4 nights.
