THE CHILD FAMILY
Troll hunting, looking for waterfalls and going on a treasure hunt are some ideas for activities that can motivate little legs to reach the goal.
Find Five Falls
Length: 0.8-4 km. Time required: 1-4 hours.
Quietly rippling or dramatically foaming. There's something to fascinate children of all ages among our five waterfalls. To get to a couple of the falls requires a few kilometers of hiking, but we dare to promise that the hike is worth it. Fettjeåfallet and Fallmoranfallen are a couple of favorites to take a closer look at.
Summer hunt
A perfect family activity with nice walks where you follow the markings on the map to find the question cards that are placed along five different hiking trails. The map and answer sheet can be found in the summer magazine or in the tourist information office at Skalets torg.
Familjeslingan, Sonfjället
Length: 2.5 km. Time required: 1-2 hrs.
Sonfjället can be oh-so-mighty to study from a distance. But there is also a lovely family trail through the old mountain birch forest in the national park and on towards Dalsvallen. On the way back to the beautiful Nyvallen, the trail goes through lush spruce forest. Sonfjället is one of Sweden's densest bear areas, so there's absolutely nothing to worry about. If you are very lucky, you might see a bear in the distance. Tip: bring binoculars and it will be even more fun to look.
THE LIFE JUSTICE
Don't forget to take a break in your hike. It's equally important to enjoy all the goodies you packed in your lunch bag and not least the view.
Klövsjö trail, ski area
Length: 3 km. Time required: 1-2 hours.
An easy hike with information about pastoral life in Klövsjö around the Katrina trail. Here you enjoy the forest landscape and can also go on a tip round about the pastoral life in Klövsjö. Round off with a nice after hike on Klövsjöfjäll in the restaurant or in their cozy spa.
Fallmoranfallen, Storhogna
Length: 7.5 km. Time required: 4 hours. This may be one of the most beautiful hikes among our tips. The tour starts at Storhogna Högfjällshotell & Spa. Take the trail that starts at the big board and walk up towards Slättfjället, it is steep at the beginning but levels out after a few hundred meters. Follow the signs towards Samevistet and then on towards Fallmoranfallen. Enjoy a swim in the lagoon and then turn back towards the hotel again. Round off with a wonderful spa experience in a high mountain environment or sit down in the winter garden with something refreshing from the bar.
Vemdalsskalet - Jaktstugan - Fallmoranfallen
Length: 10 km. Time required: 5 hours.
You start at the track center at Vemdalsskalet and follow Karins väg until the signs show you the path up to Jaktstugan. At Jaktstugan you can stop for their magical waffles before following the trail towards Fallmoran and then rounding back down towards Ripfjället, turning right onto Karl XI:s väg and following the summer trail back towards Vemdalsskalet.
THE ADVENTURER
From majestic mountain peaks to picturesque valleys, destination Vemdalen has it all for the adventurous hiker.
Seven demanding peaks
Get our hiking map in the tourist information where the peaks are marked with a (picture of blue flag) or pick up your old mountain map or map app in your mobile and aim for the best peak! Oxsjön
Length: 22 km. Time required: full day.
The tour starts at the track center at Vemdalsskalet. Follow the signs for Jaktstugan further north on the summer trail towards Jo-Ols Karinvallen. There is a rest cabin and a barbecue area for lunch. From there you have 3.8 km left to Gammelvallen at Oxsjön, and then 1.5 km to Oxsjövallen. You take the same way back. If you have extra energy left and want to check off a summit tour, you can take a detour up Oxsjövålen before the return train.
Sonfjället
1278 meters above sea level. A fairly demanding full-day hike, but with views of the whole of Härjedalen. In clear weather you can see Helags with Sweden's southernmost glacier, Oviksfjällen and Lunndörrsfjällen. From Nyvallen, follow the path up through the mountain birch forest. Lillfjället can be a suitable place to rest. Otherwise, follow the marked path up a steep slope until you reach the mountain plateau. From there the path leads on to the highest peak.
