Cross-country skiing in Vemdalen
The Vemdalen destination has cross-country trails for everyone – from curious beginners and playful families with children to experienced exercisers and competitive skiers looking for a challenge. Below, we list the different areas available for cross-country skiing, information about trail fees, and trail status.
Track access charges
Destination Vemdalen AB operates and maintains Vemdalsskalet, Vargenspåret, Ripfjället, Klövsjö ski area, Klövsjötoppen, and Storhogna. Purchase trail passes here ➤
Skistar operates and maintains the trails in Björnrike Blästervallen. Non-profit associations or local companies operate and maintain the trails in Klockarfjäll, Åsarna, Hede, Skärsjövålen, Vemhån, and Vemdalen village. For trail fees, read more under each respective area.
Difficulty levels explanation
Very easy – No hills
Easy – Gentle uphill and downhill slopes
Moderately difficult – May include steep sections
Difficult – Several steep/long sections
Difficult/challenging – Technical and challenging terrain
The trail assessments are based on an average skier.
Track status
The trails operated by Destination Vemdalen AB are groomed based on weather conditions, snow availability, and available personnel. The aim is to groom the trails daily, but this may vary depending on conditions. To see when the trails were last groomed, visit längdspår.se and search for the area you are interested in.
- The cross-country trails at the Storhogna trail center – Klövsjötoppen will be groomed through April 12.
- The cross-country trails at Vemdalsskalet, the Högfjällsrundan loop, and the connecting trail between Storhogna and Vemdalsskalet will be groomed through April 19.
- The wolf trail will be groomed as long as snow conditions permit.

Tracking Center, Vemdalsskalet
The parking and track center at Vemdalsskalet is located opposite the large parking lot at Nya landsvägen.

The Wolf Trail, Vemdalsskalet
The parking and track center at Vemdalsskalet is located opposite the large parking lot at Nya landsvägen.
Vargenspåret offers the following distances:
- 3.2 km
- 5.1 km
- 7.6 km
- 8.1 km
Storhogna Track Control Center / Klövsjötoppen
Parking and the trail center in Storhogna are located down by the caravan campsite. From the Klövsjö ski area, you can take the Klövsjö Express to the top of the Klövsjö slopes and start there. Here you can ski both classic and skate.

Klövsjö ski area
The trail starts at the parking lot by the Klövsjöfjäll hotel.
The following trails are available in the Klövsjö ski area:
- 2.7 km – electric lighting until 10 p.m.
- 1.7 km – floodlights until 10 p.m. Klövsjö IP (no charge).
Cross Country Arena Björnrike
Parking and the trail center in Björnrike at the end of Fjällvägen. At the top of the hill past Björnrike . You can also take the Solliften lift up and connect to the cross-country trail. The illuminated trail, on the other hand, is at the foot of the mountain at Blästervallen by Björnrike . The trail is groomed for both classic and skate skiing.

Klockarfjället
The parking lot is located 1.7 km up Klockarfjällsvägen after you have turned off Route 315. The parking lot and trails are on the right-hand side, level with Fjällstigen. Here you can ski both classic and skate.

Vemdalen by Lövås
Parking and a trail center are available at the Lövåsgården recreation center in the village of Vemdalen.

Pardon me
The Skärsjövålen track center is located 40 km from the village of Vemdalen. There are four different tracks with payment stations. Here you can ski both classic and skate, but only classic on the 10 km track.

Who's who
The Vemhån trail is located 17 km from Björnrike. Take Stationsvägen, which starts opposite the grocery store, drive about 300 m and turn left. The trail starts at the hockey rink. Here you can turn on the electric lighting using a button on the wall. The lighting stays on until 10 p.m. You can ski classic style here.

Heath
Hede track center is located 20 minutes from Vemdalen village. Parking is available at the ski stadium in Hede, Säterbergsvägen 4. The tracks start above the parking lot. The floodlights are turned on via a button on the wall of the old clubhouse. There is also a 0.7 km illuminated trail for children, as well as more challenging options along the 1.5 and 2.5 km trails.

Rätan
The Rätan ski trail is located 43 km from Vemdalen. Follow the signs to Rätan School, pedestrian tunnel located towards the E45 behind the gymnasium. During the day, you can also park at the ski slope. Located after road 315, from Vemdalen take road 315 at the golf course, approx. 20 km. From Rätan, take road 315 at the E 45 junction towards Rätansböle, approx. 300 m.
There are two tracks here, and skiing is available along the red loop. You can ski classic style here. Electric lights are turned on at the starting area.

Åsarna
Åsarna, also known as Guldbyn, is a real cross-country skiing mecca! There are trails for all levels, from beginners to competitive skiers. The trails start at the parking lots at the ski stadium and Åsarna Church. The church trails can also be reached via the connecting trail from the ski stadium. Here you can ski both classic and skate.
The Church Trail
At Åsarna Church. The ideal option for exercisers or beginners! Easy exercise trails in beautiful surroundings. Connecting trails to the ski stadium and other trail systems are available.

Lighted trail
At Åsarna . For experienced exercisers or those who want to train. Artificial snow is produced here during the preseason. Turn on the electric lights yourself using the green button on the track board at Åsarna .

Competition track
At Åsarna . Experience some of the toughest competition trails in Sweden. For those who want to train and develop their skills. The trails are FIS-homologized and approved according to the guidelines of the International Ski Federation.

The Skalbuan Trail
An option for those who want to explore and challenge themselves. Here you will find the legendary "Calgary slope." You can start skiing from Åsarna or Gamla Forsbron in Åsarna.

Ski Marathon trail
This is where the Åsarna Marathon long-distance race is held. The trail is a loop of approximately 45 km and is moderately hilly.
