More and more people are choosing to settle in Jämtland Härjedalen, not least in the destination of Vemdalen. Here you will find quality of life, proximity to nature, and opportunities to combine work, leisure, and community all year round.
Destination Vemdalen is a popular tourist destination with 812,000 guest nights per year. In winter, we are Sweden's third largest ski resort with three ski areas: Björnrike, Vemdalsskalet, and Klövsjö/Storhogna. There are a total of 58 slopes and 35 lifts. There are also a number of hiking trails, cross-country ski trails, and snowmobile trails that wind their way through the beautiful mountain landscape. In summer, there is mountain hiking, fishing, golf, mountain riding, canoeing, cycling, and fun events on offer. The area aims to become a competitive year-round destination. Our goal is to offer authentic mountain experiences with personal encounters in a family atmosphere. Here you will find activities and nature experiences all year round, in the mountains and just around the corner.
Within the destination, many companies work together in a unique mountain environment. Many of our tourists eventually become cottage owners, and it is not uncommon for them to move here after a few years and perhaps even become entrepreneurs themselves. A wonderful mix of genuine Jämtlanders, Härjedalingers, and new people from all over the country creates a pleasant atmosphere in the mountains.
Destination Vemdalen area
What we refer to as the Vemdalen destination spans a large area stretching from Åsarna Berg Municipality to Hede in Härjedalen Municipality. We therefore operate in two municipalities, right in the middle of two provinces, but within the same region. Härjedalen's municipal border after Vemdalsskalet meets the border of Berg Municipality, continuing on towards Storhogna, Klövsjö, and Åsarna. At the municipal border between Härjedalen and Berg, the province of Härjedalen also transitions into the province of Jämtland. Together, we form the Jämtland Härjedalen region.
