Cycling in Vemdalen

Destination Vemdalen can offer many wonderful and varied bike tours. Buy the destination's bike map, in it you will find nice cycling on marked trails and several trails on gravel roads (so-called gravel biking). Choose from the family-friendly 1 km long bike path in Vemdalen to the more demanding MTB trail in Kvarnsjö Bjartan of up to 4.5 miles. Get out the map and find the tour that's right for you!

If you're looking for a little more action in your cycling, SkiStar's cycling arena on Vemdalsskalet at the shell's express with lift-borne cycling with two trail routes, pump track and skills arena. Here you need a Bike or TrailPass to cycle on the trails. At Storhogna M there is also a bike arena with a pumptrack and two flow trails that are free.

If you want to take a longer trip by road, there are some options and tips in the paragraph on the right. In destination Vemdalen there are currently no prepared trails for cycling in the mountains. In that environment, you are warmly welcome on foot. Check out our great hiking map and choose a suitable trail.
Tips! Do a combo: cycle to the hiking trail, go for a walk to a nice destination and then cycle back home.

Riding electric bicycles and other small motorized vehicles in the countryside is not included in the right of public access. Neither the off-road driving law nor the right of public access has been developed with regard to this type of vehicle.
The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency has also stated that there is no motorized right of public access. This means that you may not drive a motorized vehicle on paths, trails or freely in terrain. Read more here.

Avoid areas where hunting is taking place, look out for information signs with "Hunting in progress", gathering of hunters etc. The moose hunt starts on September 1 and lasts throughout the fall. It is most intense the
first 2 weeks. Feel free to dress in colorful clothes and do not go closer if you hear a dog barking. Keep your dog on a leash and do not handle any loose dog moving in the forest.

  • Bring your own water bottle (and fill it in a mountain stream) or at the nearest restaurant.
  • Plow! Make it a habit to carry a bag in your backpack where you can put down the trash you see on the mountain.
