A century has passed since the very first ski tourists visited Klövsjö and Vemdalen. Small groups of schoolchildren from the big cities were accommodated in guesthouses and private homes so that they could enjoy the fresh outdoor life in the snow under the lavish spring sun. Today, Vemdalen, which includes the ski areas of Vemdalsskalet, Björnrike, Storhogna, and Klövsjö, is one of the most successful winter sports resorts in Sweden. And if the trend continues as it has begun, Klövsjö and Vemdalen will soon also take their place as one of the country's most attractive year-round destinations. How did this success story become a reality? And who were the pioneers who saw the opportunities and paved the way?
