Vemdalens Hembygdsgård

Vemdalens Hembygdsgård is one of Jämtland County's oldest heritage farms and consists of 19 timber-framed houses filled with history. Here you will find thousands of preserved objects and a unique collection of 4,000 photographs by Einar Montén. Together with Jamtli, the association has built environments that show what life was like in the 19th century. As a visitor, you can enjoy both objects and stories.

During the summer, the farm is bustling with life. Every Thursday in July, visitors can attend craft and market days, with activities such as butter making, baking flatbread in a wood-fired oven, blacksmithing in the smithy, and weaving in the weaving room. The café serves homemade goods, market stalls and flea markets offer bargains, and children can play in the play barn with wooden figures, a carpentry shed, and a balance beam. In winter, the association organizes an atmospheric Christmas market, among other things.

The premises can also be rented for weddings, birthdays, and meetings. In addition, courses in crafts and baking are organized for those who want to learn more. The association's goal is to preserve and develop the farm as a meeting place for the whole family. It also aims to preserve and ensure that it remains a living part of Vemdalen's cultural heritage.

As part of cultural and community life in Vemdalen and a partner in the destination company, Vemdalens Hembygdsgård contributes to both the development of the destination and the attractiveness of the local area. Read more here.
