Ett minne han bär med sig särskilt starkt är från en sommarkväll när Gunnar satt hemma vid köksbordet och hans då tioåriga dotter ringde, panikslagen. Hon hade fått en stor regnbåge på kroken och visste inte hur hon skulle få upp den. Gunnar kastade sig i bilen för att hjälpa till. Väl framme hade dottern redan helt på egen hand, lyckats landa fisken.
