In the heart of the village of Vemdalen, in a small red log cabin, silversmith Sarah creates jewelry inspired by the mountains.

From Idea to Calling

Sarah describes herself as a creative soul. A few years ago, she felt a strong urge to work with her hands, to create something lasting. She began training in silversmithing and soon realized that it wasn’t just a hobby—it was a calling. She set up a workshop in her basement, reduced her hours at the hotel where she worked, and launched an online shop to sell her jewelry. It went well, and soon she felt the urge to also give people the chance to come and try on the jewelry in person.

Our own workshop is taking shape

The idea of building her own workshop and farm shop began to take shape, and by the fall of 2023, the little cabin was complete. The wide floorboards, exposed ceiling beams, and sturdy log walls make the house feel as natural as the surrounding mountains. Eventually, Sarah took the plunge and left her job as a hotel manager to devote herself wholeheartedly to her craft.  

Inspired by the shapes of the mountains

Naturen runt destination Vemdalen är ständigt närvarande i hennes arbete. Former från fjälltoppar, rörelsen i vinden över myrarna, strukturen i bark och sten – allt kan bli en del av ett smycke. Varje smycke tillverkar Sarah för hand. Inget är massproducerat. Inget är identiskt med det andra. I en tid av snabb konsumtion och fast fashion är hennes arbete raka motsatsen – långsamt, omsorgsfullt och personligt.

A place to meet

The farm shop is more than just a place where jewelry is sold. Sarah talks about visitors who come back year after year.

– I want this to be a gathering place. A place where people feel they can drop by, not just to buy something new, but to say hello, spend some time over a cup of coffee, and catch up on what’s been going on since last time.

When everyday life takes over and you start longing for fresh mountain air, wide-open spaces, and tranquility, you have a reminder close at hand.
