When the spring sun starts to really burn, it's great to go out on the ice, get out your reindeer skin and lie down and have a go. Ice fishing is also relatively easy, cheap and effective. The equipment costs just a few hundred dollars. A couple of char lines, flashers and some hooks work well. A can of maggot or worm and an ice drill.

Take the car to ice fishing

Here are some tips for good ice fishing where you can take your car all the way:

Lake Rörsjön, Hedeviken

Belongs to Hedeviken's fishing area and has number 8 on the map in our fishing guide. Here you catch mainly char at this time but also trout, perch and pike. There is a windbreak for a coffee break.

Storvåndtjärn, Vemhån

Here you will find mainly char but also trout, whitefish, perch and pike bites. There are shelters to sit down and have a coffee.

Järpbäcksdammen, Vemdalen

Very accessible pond a short drive from Vemdalen village. There are two nice shelters and a barbecue area. Mainly char but also trout bite here.

Klövsjön, Klövsjö

Large lake that is easily accessible from several directions. Here is good whitefish and perch fishing. Windbreaks are available in several places.

Svartåstjärn, Klövsjö

Nice little pond located right next to Hotel Klövsjöfjäll. There is a shelter and barbecue area. Here you can catch rainbow trout, brown trout, char, but also the occasional whitefish or perch.

Take the scooter to ice fishing

Here are three great ice fishing lakes that are easily accessible if you have a snowmobile:

Oxsjön, Vemdalen

Nice lake located high up in the mountains. Here you can catch really nice char in moderate sizes, but you can also catch whitefish, perch and trout.

Tumsjön, Hedeviken

Nice smaller lake. Here you get both char, perch and trout. Windbreaks are available.

Skärsjön, Hede

There are plenty of char and trout here. Located a bit away but the snowmobile trail is nice on the way there. Here bites char and trout.
