Tourism 2030

Between 2015 and 2018, we worked on a project called Tourism 2030. "Tourism 2030 is a joint venture between Jämtland Härjedalen Tourism and the destinations Ragundadalen, Vemdalen, Östersund, Åre, and Funäsfjällen. The project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund, Region Jämtland Härjedalen, and participating partners."

In the project, each destination has its own section, and there are also overarching sections.

The overall aim of the project is to result in long-term sustainable forms for companies and their respective destinations to work with their own and joint communication and business activities.Read more about the entire project here!

Vemdalen's two main objectives during the project have been to strengthen the Vemdalen brand, primarily in digital channels, and to contribute to increased competitiveness through skills development for our partners.

Some noteworthy results of the project include our goal of doubling traffic to our website, which we achieved, starting at approximately 145,000 unique visitors and ending up at approximately 295,000. We created unique content for the website and social media on an ongoing basis and released about one new article per week. The articles have led to an increase in organic traffic, and we have seen that we get more exposure and engagement when we share the articles on social media. This has also led to the press and other interest groups picking up and sharing the articles in turn.

Another goal we set was to increase our social media followers, and we certainly achieved that. In 2015, when we started, we had 7,666 followers on Facebook, and by the end of the project we had 20,122. On Instagram, we had 1,469 followers when we started, and by the end of the project we had 7,799.

Another goal was to create an image bank and more dynamic content that our partners could also use in their marketing communications. We have approximately 100 new images in our image bank. We have started a video blog called Magasin Vemdalen and we have also produced other films that are available on our YouTube account. Some films are also available with English subtitles.

We also worked with inspirational lectures for staff and companies in the area, with the aim of creating better hospitality and increasing additional sales. Customer satisfaction rose by 20% during the project. We also held around 10 courses in digital communication for entrepreneurs in the area.

Our goal was to increase the number of guest nights during the project by 5%, and the outcome was 7%.
We were nominated for Marketer of the Year at the Gold Gala in Östersund.

The results of the project were presented at the final conference on May 14-15, 2018, at Jamtli in Östersund.
