Skiing is all well and good - but sometimes you want to break the pattern and experience something new. In Vemdalen, adventures await even off-piste. Here are five magical winter activities that will bring you closer to the mountains, nature and yourself.

1. Ride under the stars in the mountain forest

Sneak along on horseback through snow-covered forests by the light of your headlamp together with experienced guides from Trumvallen's Fjällridning. Listen to the snow crunching under your hooves and look out for the northern lights in the starry sky. After the ride, warming mulled wine and chocolate await you by a crackling fire.

The tour takes about 1.5 hours including coffee. Age limit 10 years, minimum height 145 cm.

2. Challenge yourself with ice climbing

Climb an icy waterfall with an axe in hand and crampons on your feet. This half-day activity is guaranteed to give you both a thrill and a new perspective on the winter mountains. Ice climbing is offered at both Fettjeåfallet and Sångbäcksfallet, with experienced guides and equipment.

3. Peak bird watching in a pristine mountain environment

World-class hunting experience - with or without a gun

Join us on a guided peak bird hunt in a real winter environment. On skis, you will make your way through the mountain forest, in search of grouse and capercaillie. You don't need to be a hunter - come along as a spotter and the guide will handle the weapon.

The activity takes place with Trumvallens Jakt.

4. Dog sledding through the winter wilderness

Meet Alaskan huskies and ride through the fairytale forest

Join us for a real winter adventure at The Howling Dog Farm. Here the dogs live on a charming pasture and take you out into the wilderness. Choose between a 2.5-hour tour with coffee or a 4-hour tour with lunch in the hut.

Suitable for both adults and children.

5. Scooter safari in the evening light

Daylight on the slopes - adventure in the evening

Maximize your ski trip with an evening snowmobile ride. After a day on the slopes, drive up the mountain to enjoy the view in the evening light - and maybe catch sight of the Northern Lights. A short coffee stop completes the tour.
