Take the car to Vemdalen

Do I need winter tires when I take my car to Vemdalen?
When it gets slippery and winter road conditions in Vemdalen vary, but from mid-October there is a risk of slippery roads, especially in the mornings. If you know that you will be in Vemdalen for a longer period in late autumn or that you will be visiting Vemdalen during the autumn break, it may be a good idea to switch to winter tires or studded tires.

Option 2: Via Bollnäs and Sveg
E4 towards Gävle – Road 83 – Bollnäs – Ljusdal – Sveg – Vemdalen
Driving time: approx. 5 hours 48 minutes
If you are going to Björnrike , this Björnrike a slightly closer alternative.
From Gothenburg:
Option 1: Via Mora and Orsa
Road 45 – Säffle – Sunne – Malung – Mora – Sveg – Vemdalen
Driving time: approx. 8 hours 15 minutes
Electric car chargers are available in Vänersborg, Åmål, Säffle, Sunne, Torsby, Malung, Mora, Orsa, and Noppikoski, among other places.
Option 2: Via Mariestad and Filipstad
E20 towards Mariestad – Road 26 – Kristinehamn – Filipstad – Vansbro – E45 towards Mora – Sveg – Vemdalen
Driving time: approx. 8 hours
This route is equivalent to the alternative above, both in terms of distance and travel time, but runs along the western side of Lake Vänern.
Charging stations for electric cars are available in Alingsås, Vara, Skara, Mariestad, Kristinehamn, Filipstad, Vansbro, Mora, and Noppikoski, among other places.
From Malmö
E6 towards Helsingborg – E4 towards Jönköping – Roads 47 & 26 – Skövde – Mariestad – Kristinehamn – Filipstad – Vansbro – E45 towards Mora – Sveg – Vemdalen
Driving time: approx. 10 hours 30 minutes
This is an easy-to-drive and clear route, even if it is long.
For travelers from southern Sweden, we also recommend the night train from Malmö directly to Vemdalen – a convenient and environmentally friendly alternative.
